For months I couldn’t get the song Iris by Goo Goo Dolls out of my head. Everywhere I went, the song was playing. At the grocery store, in the pilates studio, and on the radio. In Greek mythology, Iris is the goddess of the rainbow. She was a messenger, a bridge between heaven and earth; she carried messages from the gods to the humans.

This painting felt like a transmission. Something that had to come through me. It’s not a coincidence I chose purple for this one. Purple is the color of the crown chakra, the energy center that connects us with divine inspiration and intelligence.
